Is it still important?

I did a technical interview for Neudesic earlier in the week that has left me pondering the interviewee’s response a bit. It’s been bugging me so much that I decided to do a post. Normally, I wouldn’t post on the results of an interview, but this one is important because it’s on a subject that I feel very strongly about, and I’m interested in other’s opinions. More...

Where, oh where, are you CS majors?

I’m just curious where you all are? I’ve done a lot of interviews over the past few years, and I’m noticing that the number of Computer Science majors or Computer Science degrees is getting fewer and fewer. Especially here in the Phoenix region, I see a lot of MIS majors, but maybe one or two Computer Science majors each year. Why is that? Is it a failure of Arizona universities (I’m talking to you ASU Computer Science department and School of Engineering!!! Don’t get me started on the number of your graduates with 4.0+ GPAs that I’ve had to reject in less than two questions.) to properly push, motivate, and educate their students? Is it a lack of interest in Computer Science as a major? More...
